Last week I saw Two GREAT darn shows. Slayer and The Beastie Boys.
SLAYER: Concord Pavilion August 23rd
First off it was NICE and LOUD just the way it should be, I think the 52 Marshall Full Stacks helped with the sound level. I almost missed the first song because I was getting nachos and a coke. Right after I got my order of Nachos with extra Jalapenos, I could hear Slayers Guitars shredding, so I ran down to the floor. The mosh pit was OK, a lot of "youngsters"... I figure they are still learning how to mosh (I wussed out and stood the whole show). It seemed most of the Slayer Fans were OLD and BUSTED like me, and the Manson fans were the young whipper snappers with painted faces and Hot Topic Gear. What topped off the show was when HUGE upside down crosses made from 10 Marshall full stacks came down from the ceiling (as seen in the below picture on the right side), I could see Angles fall from Heaven when this happened... it RULED.
It was nice to hear a mix of songs from most of the Slayer albums, not just from Christ Illusion, and it seemed most people knew all the songs. I was sad to see that MANSON was "headliner/last to play), because it seems to me Slayer should have way more seniority over them... But maybe Slayer wanted to play earlier so they wouldn't miss their bed time.
Slayer fans are the COOLEST, during the show I saw a long Haired Slayer fan get on stage, (don't know how he did that) tap Tom on the the shoulder and give the thumbs up, grab a bass pick from the mic stand put it in his mouth, and then stage dove to the crowd to skate security.
All in all this was one of the best shows I have seen, plenty of Satanic Goats, Destruction, and HEAVY assed music. As for Manson... it was OK, they were MUCH better in 1994 when I saw them open for White Zombie back in El Paso, Texas.
Beastie Boys: Greek Theater, Berkley August 25th
Another Great show, they were very tight and they kept it new with different mixes/samples of there songs. Being at the concert makes you feel like listening to a new album because of all the changes with the tunes. The Greek Theater is a nice place with good sound, the only real cry ass is the seats, they are hard rough ass concrete, and YES I was sitting, I am getting old and didn't feel like "hanging" in the pit.

Today I went to see
live at Slims and it was one of the best concerts I have been to in a long long time. If you have not heard their music, you HAVE to listen to them. They are like a harder Black Sabbath, with a Ministry crunchy feel (at least that is what I think). My brother lives in Austin Texas where The Sword is from and told me about them... here is what he told me, "the band you want to keep your eye on is the Sword, Heavy ass shit". He was KORRRRECT! The two openers were great too (Saviours : OAKLAND CA, and Akimbo). I am so glad heavy music isn't dead, this is a breath of fresh air in my music universe.

This past friday I went to a show to see Goblin Cock which was really cool. These guys RULE for 5 reasons.
1: Dress In "Death" Cloaks
2: Play dark crunchy "Black Sabbath" type music
3: Have TONS of smoke on the stage
4: Dress In "Death" Cloaks... oh I said that
5: Finally Cause the Bass player is named "KING SITH"
Here are some pictures I took with my old and busted camera phone.
*remember I said TONS of smoke*

My buddy Geeter shot me this link with new Guns and Roses tunes for the new album that is coming out in in March.
Songs don't sound too bad, I hope the rest of the album is good, and I hope he doesn't run from his concerts.

I wish I would have sung this song as a kid, cause it would have been fun to sing. It seems some friends of mine like to sing this to me these days. Here are the lyrics to the old kids song called "Glunk, Glunk, Glunk".

I started a beginner guitar class at a local college and my finger tips are wearing down. We started to learn the D, A7, G, and E chords. This is the 2nd week I have been playing "correct" guitar, no more one string wonders like what is heard on AtomicAnnie.com. I have a percussion background and got a little bored with the simple rhythm that our exercises had, so I created my own little tune to practice to, and here it is. "guitar01_week02.mp3" (right click and choose SAVE AS)I am planning on posting my progress to get input from all you criDICKs reading this (I know I will get a lot of "YOU SUCK" and YOU BLOW" but that’s cool). |

Dimebag Darrell was killed. He was shot during the first song at a concert last night by somebody in the crowd. I am really sad and pissed about this, and don’t know what more to say, but that this sucks. My brother, his wife, and his daughter met Dimebag and Vinne a couple of months ago, her is the the link to the blog. Here are some links to the news. Here is a song I wrote for my Dad for Fathers day, when he heard it, he said he pictured me playing all the instruments at the same time. When he was a kid he saw a music performer play a song for his school, the performer played the guitar, trumpet, drums, and other various instruments all at the same time, using his feet, hands, mouth and such. That would RULE if I could do that, all I can do is cheat and use ProTools.

I went to see Fantomas at the Filmore last night with Erin and HOLY TURDS! it was cool! Of course, some TALL son of a holy cow had to plant his roots and shade us from a good view, but it was still a nice show. Mike Patton was like a symphony conductor keeping the music on beat and flowing. It was nice to watch the band and see how they create such cool sounds and what they use for them. I wish I could have gone on stage and talked with the band as ASSk them to show me there gear. I am sure I would have got my apples kicked if I did that. Oh yeah... and Dave L is the KING of Speed drumming (Lars is a used tea Sack compaired to him). OH and MELT BANANA was there opener and they RULED the roost.
If you like metal with a mix of crazy guitar sounds, check them out. Here is a link to an MP3 online. I really haven’t been to a show where I liked the opening band as much as them, so that alone should let you know that they don’t suck. Now I will go and work on some of my 0w3|\| music. |
